When you are watching the Superbowl this weekend...

...a REALbasic application will be working hard!

As you might have seen, we have a user Mike Faulkner, who used REALbasic to create a multi-faceted software tele-prompting system for live entertainment performances.  It's been used on NBC's Today© show, the Conan O'Brien Show©, The View©, and others, and will be in use during the Superbowl halftime show.

Here is the original Skydancer Studios case study: http://www.realsoftware.com/community/skydancerstudios

So, be sure to catch the halftime show, with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band!

Introduction to REALbasic: The Movie!

Cocoa is coming!

You will need 3 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/4 cup sugar, 4 cups milk, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla, miniature marshmellows and REALbasic.

Last year we announced that REALbasic will support Cocoa, Apple's framework for Mac OS X software development.  Cocoa is expected to ship mid-2009 and will be in beta by the end of March.  Cocoa support will include Mac OS X Leopard-style windows, spell checking in editfields, pictures in editfields, head up display (HUD) windows, and more.

A lot of people have been asking about what will happen to their projects when Cocoa is available.  Current projects should recompile without any problems.  REALbasic plugins that have no UI should work without any modification.  Plugins that have a UI will need to be rewritten in Objective-C using the Cocoa APIs.

Here is a preview of some of the new things you'll be able to do when Cocoa support is available.

First.

This is the first post on the REAL Software blog.  The goal of this blog is to provide users with access to REAL Software's staff.  This is a company blog, so anyone from REAL Software might post - engineering, marketing, support, maybe we'll even hear from Geoff Perlman!

I'll start off by introducing myself.  My name is Dana Brown, I'm the Director of Marketing at REAL Software and I live in Austin, Texas.

Are you on Linkedin?  If you aren't, you should check it out.  It's a great professional networking site and there is a REALbasic group on there.  We also have a REALbasic group on Facebook.  It's very nice to put a face with a lot of the names we see on the NUG and Forums.

This week we launched the REAL Software Affiliate's program.  As a REAL Software Affiliate, you can market REALbasic or REAL Server on your website or blog and then you will earn a commission on any new license sale you generate.  We are offering $20 for Professional Edition, $10 for Personal Edition and $20 for REAL Server.  You have to have a Paypal account to sign up and payments will be made monthly.
